Michael Hoare, Ratoath, Co. Meath
Michael Hoare is Managing Director of Mentor Financial Services, a company he set up in 2002 and is based at Fitzwilliam Square in Dublin. Mentor specialises in wealth management strategies for company directors, self-employed professionals and senior corporate executives.
Prior to setting up his own business, Michael performed a number of senior management roles within the financial services sector. He was Regional Manager of Lifetime in the Mid-West and returned to Dublin to become Group Sales Manager with Friends First. Michael holds the QFA qualification of the LIA and secured an MBA in 2002. During his study period, he was appointed Commercial Director of Cambridge Technology Partners, a global e-business strategic consultancy based out of Boston in the USA. Michael is a five time Court of the Table member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
Michael was elected to the PIBA committee in 2006 and he acted as Secretary and Vice Chairman before being elected Chairman in May 2009.
Michael’s other interests include soccer, rugby and golf. He represented Ireland at Schoolboy and Youth level and he played League of Ireland football for Shamrock Rovers, Drogheda United and Home Farm. He lives in Ratoath with his partner Donna and five children. |

Jarlath Jordan, Galway City, Co. Galway
Jarlath Jordan is Principal Partner with Mill Financial Services based in Galway City. The business provides a broad range of financial services to its corporate and private clients. The firm partners with a large accountancy practice and this relationship has helped to develop a strong base with its business and corporate clients.
Jarlath started his career with New Ireland Assurance in 1981 and held various branch and senior management positions with the company over the following 20 years, prior to starting his own business with Mill Financial Services in 2002. Jarlath is also a member of the Life Forum Group recently established by PIBA to hold talks with all the major life companies. Jarlath joined the PIBA Committee in 2006. He was recently elected as Vice Chairman of PIBA at their AGM.
Jarlath is married to Fionnuala and has three teenage children. He has a keen interest in GAA, soccer and sports in general. Jarlath believes that while the current economic environment is very challenging there are opportunities for independent financial advisors to become a stronger force within the industry in the future. |

Paul Cullen, Stepaside Dublin 18.
Paul Cullen is currently the Managing Director of Life Goals Financial Services Ltd. He joined the financial services industry in January 1995 and held positions as a financial advisor and group sales manager with Friends First. His offices are in Qhouse, Sandyford, Dublin 18.
Paul is also a QFA and a member of the LIA and an eight year member of the MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table), with five Court of the Table and two Top of the Table awards.
Paul was appointed to the PIBA Committee in 2009. He is also chairman of the Life sub-committee.
Paul’s interests include music, and as a teenager he was a member of the Rathfarnham Concert Band. He was accepted into the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble as lead saxophonist two years running.
Paul is a keen sports fan and currently Life Goals Financial Services sponsor the Ballyboden St Enda’s Senior B Hurling Team. He also enjoys playing a bit of soccer and golf, and following rugby. In the winter months he is most likely to be contacted in the Austrian Alps as he is an avid skier. Paul is married to Nathalie and has two daughters, Laura and Emilie. |

Liam Carberry, Sutton, Co. Dublin
Liam Carberry is a long-standing member of PIBA and was actively involved as a Director of the PIBA committee between 2002 and 2008. Liam held the position of Vice President of the PIBA committee in 2005 and was elected Chairman of PIBA in 2006. At the AGM in May 2007 a special resolution was passed allowing Liam to remain on the committee for a further year as Vice Chairman. Liam was re-elected to the committee at the AGM in May 2009.
Liam began his career in the insurance industry 20 years ago when he served as a tied agent with Friends First. In 2000, Liam established Liam Carberry Financial Planning in Sutton, Co. Dublin. Liam sat on the Financial Services Consultative Industry Panel from 2004 to 2008 and is currently a member of the PIBA Legislation and Life sub-committees. Liam currently sits on the board of the PSAB-GI. The Board’s principal aim is to implement and maintain a programme of Continuous Professional Development and all related activities for registered CIP diploma holders in general insurance.
Liam is a member of the Irish National Taekwondo Association (ITF) and holds black belt status. He is also coach to the Irish national team, who won 13 medals in the European Championships which took place in May 2009 in Spain.

Maurice Harnett, Glasnevin, Dublin 9
Maurice Harnett started his career in the industry in 1974. He worked in Phoenix Assurance Co. as a Senior Underwriter. Following this he held the position of Senior Accounts Manager in McDowell Insurance Brokers. Maurice joined up with Derek Fitzgerald to form a new Brokerage (Fitzgerald and Harnett) in 1987.
Maurice joined the PIBA committee in May 2008. He joined the PIBA General insurance sub-committee in 2007 and is currently chairman of the sub-committee. Maurice is originally from Glasnevin. He enjoys golf and is a member of Skerries Golf club.
