PIBA was formed in 1995 and has quickly grown to become the largest representative body for insurance brokers in Ireland.

After years of hard work, the first agency agreement with Irish Life was launched in 1999. This was a remarkable achievement and, for the first time, the rights of the Broker over his business were defined in an explicit agreement with a Life Office. 7 more agreements followed with all the main Life Offices. They have resulted in high standards and quality of business practice within the industry.

Having successfully put in place procedures and systems to deal with protecting and representing Brokers there was now scope to expand into new territory. Due to the diverse nature of all member firms various business development schemes and services have been developed in order to add value to a Broker’s business, assist Brokers to embrace technological developments, provide training on products and access to niche products.

Our compliance unit provides members with a comprehensive service encompassing the provision of information, documents and guidelines to help Brokers comply with current rules and regulations. As the legislative requirements evolve, we will be here to assist Brokers in responding to such changes and will help Brokers to promote and preserve their interests.

PIBA currently has a membership of over 900 firms and provides Brokers with a strong, well-organised and resourced association that firmly represents their interests in every arena that impacts on their businesses. Every member can be proud of the fact that they have assisted in building the largest Broker organisation in Ireland, which will continue to develop in response to the ever-changing needs of members.
